Author Biography

[vc_row][vc_column][txt]Jaap Scholten is a Dutch author living and working in Budapest. He was born in 1963 in Twente, an outlying region of the Netherlands close to the German border. He studied industrial design at the Technical University of Delft, graphic design at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and social anthropology at the Central European University in Budapest.

In 2011 Scholten created and presented a six-part television series for the VPRO about hidden worlds in Central and Eastern Europe. He has written widely praised short stories and novels, including Eighty, Morning Star and Spengler’s Law, which was chosen as the booksellers’ ‘novel of the year’. Comrade Baron is his first non-fiction book.[/txt][/vc_column][/vc_row]
